In the city that never sleeps there are endless choices available when it comes to choosing a wedding venue. Never mind the thousands of options for wedding professionals, flowers, dresses and invitations, it’s no wonder more and more couples are choosing to escape the “wedding planning mania” and elope at City Hall. Elopements aren’t what they use to be (secret getaways to Vegas anyone?). Now couples can involve up to 30 of their friends and family in the ceremony, ax the pricey limo rental and take a quick train ride to Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall and even have an awesome after party at a local restaurant to celebrate! Our photographers love capturing these less traditional weddings! Check out these creative and practical NYC City Hall Elopements…
Since introducing our new all-inclusive NYC elopement packages that include photography and video, a NY state registered Officiant to perform the wedding ceremony and even customized cards to announce the marriage to family and friends, our phone has been ringing off the hook!
Couples love the option of an intimate wedding celebration in NYC without compromising the traditional aspects of a full wedding. Elopements are often mistaken as being rushed and secretive, but that doesn’t have to be the case. Our couples have involved their family and friends and taken time to carefully plan every aspect of their big day. After all, it’s still a wedding, just on a smaller scale (and less expensive as well!)
While our all-inclusive elopement packages are becoming more and more popular amongst native New Yorkers and visitors coming to NYC for a destination wedding, some couples are opting to keep it simple and get married at City Hall.
We do live in one of the most populous cities in the world so its no wonder that over 15,000 people marry at City Hall each year. More proof that elopements are popular among engaged couples is the new Manhattan Marriage Bureau, designed by Jaime Drake (former designer for Mayor Bloomberg). It opened in 2012 and offers couples a newly renovated space complete with black marble pillars and comfortable couches. An obvious upgrade from the old City Clerk’s office, the new space houses a store that sells everything from fresh flowers to $9 wedding rings! (talk about one stop shopping!). The bathrooms feature floor to ceiling mirrors (for those last minute touches), larger chapel rooms (you can bring up to 30 guest) computerized screens that let you know how long your wait is and even the option of hooking up your ipod/pad during your ceremony for music!
Whatever you choose, your wedding day is all about you and what makes your love story unique. Whether it’s a central park elopement with an after party, a backyard dance party complete with ice cream truck for dessert, or a City Hall ceremony, be sure to give us a call so our awesome elopement photographers can capture every special moment!
